Offering
36’ x 20” x 2” glass, mirror, silicone, brass
This sculpture is very special to me. This exact kind of orange has felt strangely sacred to me since childhood. I immediately became excited and curious about what would become of the raw piece of orange glass when I first saw it. Surprised and delighted to see it develop into a grown woman providing an offering, I now dream of adding a real flow of water that pours from her hands…some day.
All of my glass figures are about being an embodied woman/human at this time on earth. Feeling both fragile and resilient, I’ve developed a one of a kind silicone joinery system that allows for this typically fragile medium to be quite strong and flexible as it floats inches off the wall on sturdy standoff screws. All edges of glass are smoothly sanded to eliminate sharpness, making it safe to touch.
